Point is, just because someone has that type of name doesn't mean they're unskilled noobs.
I'm not sure if it was in this thread, but yes I am over generalizing. I've played with a Lord Badazz who was just a GREAT teamplayer.

So obviously, your mileage may vary. In GENERAL, however, it's smart to avoid people with this name. So you chosing a name like that will make it harder for you to team up with people.

Ofcourse, it's nothing that a simple "Hi there, I'd like to join your team if I may" can't fix.

The idiots that I'm talking about do now have the level of intelligence required to type such a lengthy sentence.

Btw, I do like the name "Omfg Its a Monk lol". that at least shows some thought went into it.
One guy had a name as "The O in Ownage", which in itself is also funny, and reasonably original.
There's nothing funny or original about "I pwn U" or "Mastakill4h" (I swear, the next time I see a dimwit with that name, I'm going to fry his Internet connection...)

I really do think that's what goes through some warriors heads.

So people are that black and white to you eh? You're not one of those people that insta-ignores folks you deem "stupid" are you?

I had a guy once, ask to buy some steel I was selling. I told him 250gp and he whispered me back "your a n00b, nobody pays that much for steel" then put me on his ignore list. Sold the steel ten seconds later to another guy for 250gp...go figure. That other guy was pretty nice though. Even said "thank you" and "please."

Rather then ignore/friend I wish they had a little text note area where you can type in comments about someone. I.e. "likes to buy runes", "great monk party person", "warrior that charges into battle with no care of success", etc.

Good teaming experience : A few guildies and myself decided we would bust our cherries in the UW. So we invite a warrior and tell him it's our first time through and would like to see how to get through it. We wiped a few times, but the third time through was just awesome. He told us how to get around and showed us the ropes. Also none of us had infused armor, I believe he was the only one that did. Anyways, we were able to complete a couple of the quests before we failed one of the missions. All in all it was a fun time. The warriors name was Maximum Damage and ususally I don't team with people with names un-rpg-ish, this guy knew his stuff and was added to my friends list for future questing.

Now for a not so good story : I usually stay far away from PUGs. Being a monk I heard and went through some pretty crazy times in groups, so I have a tendency to stay away from them. I was at one of the Ascension trials missions and decided I would give this group a chance. They seemed like nice people and we were doing fine untill one fo the guys agros a whole mob. So I start healing and dealing Judge's insight on my team. The guy who agrod teh mob started yelling at me not to use Insight. I told him that I liked to use insight and thats how it wsa going to be. Again he yelled at me to heal and not use insight. So I told him that if he yelled at me again that I would leave the group. He then says that the team would be better off without me. So I said goodbye and dropped. I really hate it when people try and tell me how to play my monk.

So now I don't join any PUGs and it's sad cause I like to meet new people.

BTW if anyone wants to group with me and is mature and not uppity, you can whisper me in game. I am a full protection monk and I use protection prayers with zealots fire as my main buff. I don't heal, but my protects give added bonuses and buffs along with minor healing with my divine favor points. Look me up, ingame name is Wu Shao.

Dude, you did the right thing by dumping that group. Now see how much healing they get Its funny how people with the disadvantage can think they can still boss you around.

Yet, if they were being robbed and had a gun to they're head something tells me they wouldn't aggro the villian "Hey, if you don't get that loaded gun away from my head I'm going to punch you in the gut."

That's just playing the part of a moron. But what would life be without a few lemmings

There are 3 or 4 people that I have partied with that are on my friends list that I really like to stick with. If you can find people around your level and you like partying with them and everything goes smoothly, I would say add them to friends and party with them. I doubt that any of the ones on my friends list are the same level or in the same area as me now so I may have to scrounge up more buddies.

But the thing is, a bunch of my acquaintances even went on to become members of my guild because we shared such like minds. I believe in roleplaying so no dumb names like "I R Noob" or "The Pwnzinator" or "King Kong Man" or anything like that. All of my characters have names behind them. I am working on writing a background and history for my characters which will basically be like a fan-fiction work. That's what my guild revolves around, rp'ing your character and actually creating a life for at least one of them. I tend to carry my attention to detail over into partying, avoiding things that I think will upset my group (especially the healer) and generally just pay attention and use common sense which is really all that you need to have a good group.

If you care to look me up you can add:

Andarius Diesethion
Level 11 R/W and am at Yak's Bend right now.

I can't remember my mesmer's Name because I just started him but if you add that one, you can reach me on any of my names.

sometimes it's hard to find cooperative teammates. Everyone get's so used to being able to out-muscle everything in the lower levels of the game. before you get to yaks you can literally out-muscle everything in your path..the only difficult quest before yaks was Altheas. I've noticed that I need to be more careful now....and take caution in what I'm aggroing.

if you've got a character in the Yak's bend area(or anyone has one) I'd love to party up.

This is something I'd love to get in on... I've had one exceptional PUG with which I did a couple of missions in succession, and blew right past without even using a Rez signet. But that's the exception to the rule. I've paid my dues with dozens of terrible PUGs... no-one assisting the target callers, Necros and Eles who want to be close enough to the mobs to smell their breath, Monks who only heal and protect themselves, Warriors who pull every enemy on the screen at the same time, children writing "FU" across the map, quitting the mission after a single death... you name it, I've probably dealt with it.

I'm really only running one char at the moment, because I'm hopelessly in love with her. She's at the Seaboard at the moment, the farthest I've gotten with any of my characters because I rebuild almost all the time.

Bea Rohirrim - Level 15 R/E, pure archer waiting for decent air magic spells. I know my role and do my best to fill it, igniting arrows, getting mobs to bleed, and keeping mobs from reaching my healers. Whisper me in-game if you'd care for me to join you.

Thanks. I ended up choosing that name because of all my experience with PUGs in HoH. They're always like: "Quick! There's a monk over there, invite him!" So........yeah.

But I agree, in general, names do tell a lot about the maturity of a player. There are exceptions like myself, but general, it's true.

Oh, and if anyone needs help, feel free to give me a call. My IGNs:

Master Shadowsting: E/Mo (usually) 20, beaten the game, glad to help people.
Teh Uberleet Haxxor: W/N 11
Shadow Underling: R/Me 7 (or 8, can't remember)
Le Gasp: My PvP tester.

Off-Topic...I love Roy Mustang! He's the best anime character ever. I was gonna name myself alchemist of flame in his honor!

In my experience the number of rushing, self-centered obnoxiuos characters decreases a bit after the Ascention - most groups only have maybe one of those after that

I have the pet theory that those bull-mentality characters that rush to anything that is a red dot in the mini-map tend to need a lot of tries to complete each of the ascention missions - basically, they either learn not to do it or eventually and due to the laws of probability find themselfs on a team that only has 1 such character and where the other members are good enough to clean up the damage he makes.

The downside of this is that the, by far, most frustrating to do missions are the Ascention ones - actually some are easier to do with henchies
